Short professional biography
Marin Jovanovic has extensive experience in operations management, digital transformation, and executive-level education. He designs and leads analytics- and operations-focused learning experiences that help managers make better decisions at the intersection of data, technology, and industrial business.
With an international academic background and a strong track record in applied research, Marin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Operations Management at Copenhagen Business School (CBS), where he serves as Course Coordinator for the Business Analytics course in the General Management and Analytics master’s programme. He has also held visiting positions as a Visiting Researcher at the Institute for Manufacturing, University of Cambridge (United Kingdom), a Visiting Scholar at Luleå University of Technology (Sweden), and a Visiting PhD student at ESADE Business School (Spain).
His areas of expertise include industrial platforms and platform ecosystems, supply chain digitalization, operations management, and business analytics. He combines rigorous research with practical relevance, bridging how organizations design, govern, and scale digital and cyber-physical solutions in complex industrial settings.
Alongside his academic work, Marin has built substantial non-academic experience through long-term collaborations with industry and public-sector organizations. Since 2021, he has conducted research work with Statens Serum Institut (Denmark). Earlier, from 2013 to 2015, he worked in research roles at Atlas Copco headquarters in Stockholm and Barcelona. He began his professional career in commercial roles, including Trade Marketing Analyst and Management Trainee at Molson Coors in Belgrade.
Marin earned his PhD in Industrial Economics and Management from KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden) and, in the same period, completed a PhD (Cum Laude) in Industrial Management at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (ETSII, Spain). He also holds an MSc in Management Engineering from Politecnico di Milano (Italy) and a BSc in Information Systems and Technology from the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Organizational Sciences (Serbia).
