Djordje Hirs is an AI leader with more than 15 years of experience spanning telecommunications, Data Science, and Machine Learning. He specializes in developing and implementing advanced AI systems, including large language models (LLMs), speech recognition systems, and scalable ML platforms, with strong expertise in deep learning and MLOps.
He began his career at Telenor, where he spent more than a decade designing and implementing advanced telecommunications systems, including LTE and VoLTE solutions. In 2019, he transitioned into Data Science, joining Yettel as a Data Science Lead. Since 2021, he has served as Data Science Manager at Yettel Serbia, where he has built and led the company's AI function inside the CDO division. Under his leadership, the Data Science team has been ranked #1 across the company's footprint by independent evaluators on multiple occasions.
An active member of the regional AI community, Đorđe has spoken at leading industry conferences, including DSC Europe and AI Summit Adria. At AI Summit Adria 2025, he received the AI Transformation Award for the successful integration of artificial intelligence.
Djordje holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, and Information Technologies and is currently pursuing a PhD in Artificial Intelligence. His research focuses on the early detection of melanoma through medical image analysis, using state-of-the-art AI models. He also holds numerous professional certifications from Ericsson, Huawei, ZTE, and Cisco, including several CCNP certifications.
